Flosell Farms in collaboration with the World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH), is offering a unique opportunity for individuals seeking to venture into the thriving aquaculture industry as it has opened applications for a six-week commercial aquaculture training program. Application for the training program which aims to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge in fish farming ends on August 1, 2023.
The intensive training program is scheduled to commence on August 15, 2023, and will take place at Flosell Farms, LLC, located in Sogakope, Ghana. Aspiring aquaculturists will gain hands-on experience and theoretical insights into various aspects of fish farming, including fish biology, brood fish management, larval and juvenile fish rearing, fish disease management, water quality control, and culture system operation.
The training will be facilitated by seasoned aquaculture experts affiliated with WISHH, bringing with them extensive teaching experiences from renowned universities worldwide. Trainees will also participate in a series of lectures and seminars, both in-person and virtual, focusing on successful fish farming practices. To demonstrate their understanding and learnings from the program, participants will be required to submit a summary paper, which will be a prerequisite for receiving the final payment and an official certificate of training.
In addition to invaluable training and skill development, selected candidates will receive a stipend of at least 200 USD along with lodging and one meal per day. The combination of theoretical education and practical training makes this program an unparalleled opportunity for aspiring aquaculturists to jumpstart their careers.
To be eligible for the program, applicants must be enrolled in a reputable university such as the University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, or any other recognized institution with a focus on Fisheries/Aquaculture or related programs. Applicants will also be required to submit a detailed letter of application highlighting their experience in aquaculture, reasons for applying to the internship, and their career aspirations. Moreover, a letter of recommendation must also be included to complete the application.
Applicants will undergo a thorough evaluation by both WISHH and Flosell Farms, with interviews being conducted before the final selection.
